Please help staff our tables, register voters, and pass out Green Party literature!

— Over the next month, we’ll be going to at least 8 different events, listed below.  (3 or 4 weeks from now we’ll let you know about the next month’s events).  So please join us as soon as you can, to help publicize the Green Party, and to let people know that there’s a real alternative to the corporate-controlled duopoly!  If you can help out at any of these events, just email the contact listed for that event!:

      1) This Saturday, 7/20, is the annual 40th Street Block Party in Oakland’s Temescal District, from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm.  If you can help us out at our table, please contact Dale Baum, at: db374@georgetown.edu   More info is here: https://temescaldistrict.org/events/40th-street-block-party-2019/

      2) Sunday, 7/21 will be the Urban Air Market, a “Curated Marketplace for Sustainable Design”, at “The Hive”, 2335 Broadway, Oakland, from 11 am until 6 pm.   If you can help us pass out our literature, please contact Justin Richardson, at: justin.richardson@hotmail.com   More info is here:  https://www.visitoakland.com/event/urban-air-market%3A-uptown-oakland/27562/

      3) Wed & Thu, 7/31 & 8/1, are the only two Oakland performances of the SF Mime Troupe (with this year’s production, entitled “Treasure Island”, being about gentrification).  These take place at the Edoff Band Stand at Lakeside Park.  The performances start at 7:00 pm and the music starts at 6:30 pm.  If you can help us pass out our literature before the performance starts, please contact our general email address, at: acgreens1992@gmail.com   More info is here: http://www.sfmt.org/index.php

      4) Sat & Sun, 8/3 & 8/4, will be the last two regular East Bay performances of the SF Mime Troupe (with this year’s production, entitled “Treasure Island”, being about gentrification).  These take place at Live Oak Park in North Berkeley (at Shattuck and Berryman).  The performances start at 2:00 pm and the music starts at 1:30 pm.  If you can help us pass out our literature before the performance starts, please contact James McFadden for Saturday, at: jpmcfadden925@yahoo.com  and/or Phoebe Sorgen for Sunday, at: phoebeso@earthlink.net   More info is here: http://www.sfmt.org/index.php

      5) Also on Sat & Sun, 8/3 & 8/4, the Fremont Festival of the Arts will take place.  Attracting almost 400,000 people, it’s billed as the largest free street fair West of the Mississippi.  The event takes place at and around Paseo Padre and Walnut from 10 am until 6 pm, in downtown Fremont.  If you can help us pass out our literature, please contact Sarah Aminoff at:sarahaminoff@aol.com   More info is here:  https://fremontfestival.net/

     6) Saturday, 8/10 will be Laurel Street Fair/World Music Festival, in Oakland, from 11 am until 7 pm.  It takes place at 35th and MacArthur, and the areas nearby.  If you can help us out at our table, please contact Michael Rubin, at: rubinarnol@aol.com   More info is here:  https://streetfair.laureldistrictassociation.org/

    7) On Wednesday, 8/14, at Oakland’s Paramount Theatre (2025 Broadway) are the two monthly swearing-in ceremonies, for up to 1,500 new citizens per ceremony.  So this should be a huge opportunity for us to be registering new Greens!  (Here’s a short story from last year about the event:  https://hoodline.com/2018/01/after-trump-s-immigration-remarks-oakland-naturalization-ceremony-goes-viral ).  The ceremony probably takes 45 to 60 minutes, and since the two ceremonies begin at 10 am and 2 pm, we should probably get there around 10:30 am and 2:30 pm respectively.  Right now, we’re planning to be at the afternoon session.  If you can help us register new voters, please contact Phoebe Sorgen at: phoebeso@earthlink.net

     8) Also on Wednesday, 8/14, KPFA radio is hosting author Dan Kovalik, whose topic will be The Plot to Overthrow Venezuela: How the U.S. Is Orchestrating a Coup for Oil  This event takes place at the Hillside Club, 2286 Cedar St., Berkeley.  Given how most Democratic Party “leaders” (including Bernie Sanders) support “regime change”, this could be a great opportunity for us to reach a Green-friendly audience!  The event starts at 7:30 pm, so we should probably get there around 6:45 pm.  If you can help us pass out our literature, please contact our general email address, at: acgreens1992@gmail.com   More info is here:  https://kpfa.org/event/kpfa-radio-94-1-fm-presents-dan-kovalik/
