Green Sunday Presentation:

Growing the Green Party by Identifying Single Payer Voters: SB 562 and the battle for universal healthcare

On Saturday, June 24th, 17 volunteers from Single Payer Now and the San Francisco Green Party staffed the SFGP booth at the Pride celebration in Civic Center. 424 people signed Single Payer Now postcards that day, a new record for SPN. Many more people, as they passed by, expressed their support when they saw our healthcare and Green Party signs.

SB 562, a bill that will provide an Improved and Expanded Medicare for All to every California resident, is currently on hold in the State Assembly. It may still move forward this year, or it may become a 2 year bill. A brief update on the legislation and Q & A will be followed by a discussion of how Greens can use this campaign to grow the Green Party.

Barry Hermanson is a member of the San Francisco Green Party County Council, is an organizer for Single Payer Now and a member of the Sierra Club’s Executive Committee – San Francisco Group. He is a Candidate for Congress and is a former co-chair of the Green Party of California Coordinating Committee.

Report-back on the recent Sacramento state Green Party General Assembly Meeting

You’ll also enjoy briefly hearing about the inspiring state Green Party General Assembly Meeting that many of us recently attended in Sacramento. There were 3 sessions of state party committee meetings, and lots of young, new, attendees from across the state, energized to help build the party!
